The Harristown Fire Protection District is improving road safety with the implementation of a new Safety Cloud by HAAS Alert.

This system will send digital alerts to drivers when emergency vehicles are responding to incidents. The goal of the program is to reduce collision risks by up to 90% and to help ensure compliance with Illinois Move Over laws.

Drivers of Volkswagen models from 2024 or newer, as well as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM models from 2018 or newer, will receive these alerts directly in their vehicles. The alerts will also be accessible through navigation apps like Waze and Apple Maps.

This initiative aims to promote safer roads and encourages community sharing to raise awareness.
